Do I look like a parking attendant to you?
This morning I arrived at the car park opposite my office at 8.45am. This is an open air car park where we drive in and pay the parking attendants RM6 per entry.
I drove in, parked my car properly, got off and walked towards the parking attendant to pay my RM6. On my way back to my car, there was this lady, Malay I presume, walked towards me and asked how much is the parking here. Of course being the samaritan I am, I just told her it is RM6. Then the next thing was that, she took RM6 out of her purse, and wanted to pay me!!??
Wtf do I look like a parking attendant to you?! Come on I’m an IT consultant ok? A senior IT consultant in one of the prestigious MNC companies in Malaysia. And I’m being mistaken as a parking attendant.
That’s a real blow to my self confidence of my physical appearance.
Great! The last thing I need now is misjudgement of my identity and social status based on my physical appearance. First I get people speaking to me in PC fair like I’m some Low Yat PC sales man, some more speak to me in Malay! I’m Chinese leh… *looks depressed*. And then this, parking attendant… no offense on parking attendants, but is there a look for parking attendants that the lady would automatically assume I’m one?
I just can’t get this off my chest. I know I’m childish, obsessed and self-centered for taking this too seriously. But I’ve been scarred one too many times. Can anybody comfort me? *tears in glittering eyes* *begging*
